Inflatable Boats

I'll admit it. I'm an inflatable boat junkie. I love inflatable boats. Why? Simple. They are relatively inexpensive, incredibly versatile and just an all-around awesome boat for fishing, river floating and in general just putzing around on the water. How big of a junkie am I? I have three different inflatable boats!

The Sea Eagle 380x Inflatable Kayak

Inflatable boats have come a very long ways. In the old days, it was all too common to have an inflatable boat literally rip apart by the seams. And if it didn't rip apart, the fabric itself was all too easily punctured by a fingernail, lost hook, coke can top and anything else that looked at the fabric in a mean way.

Well, you can still get those types of boats. Just head over to Wal-Mart - you'll have a big selection of junkie boats that will be lucky to survive a season on a pond, let alone a Montana river. However, technology has struck the inflatable boat market - making for some great, high quality inflatable boats that can literally last decades, all the while making them very affordable.

This section of Big Sky Fishing will be all about inflatable boats and will cover them in gory detail. In particular, I'll focus on the following three types of inflatable boats that anyone who enjoys fishing will find useful for watersports activities, from fishing, to river floating, to multi-length river floats down a Montana or Alaskan river.

Inflatable Rafts - Small, affordable and incredibly versatile. Great for fishing and river floating. More Information.

Inflatable Kayaks - My favorite! Pretty good river fishing platform, but by far the best way to float the rivers, especially if there is whitewater! Superb for long river floats, too. More Information.

Catamaran Kayaks - A what? A catamaran - you know - a multi-hull boat. Yes, technology has struck again, leading to the neat development of a dual-hull kayak that can run Class IV whitewater! And did I mention that you can even put a sail and/or motor on it too?? More Information.
