After the first half mile, the Logging
Lake hiking trail passes through
an extensive burn area that runs for about a mile or so. This burn area
was caused by the Logging Creek Fire of 1999. In this particular area,
the hiking trail passes through an area that burnt very hot - as virtually
all of the trees were killed. What is rather peculiar, though, is how "abrupt" the
fire line just ends. One minute you're hiking in a big burn area, and
the next minute you pass into deep forest.
