Hiking Books about Glacier National Park

Sales on Hiking Gear

At the beginning of the Logging Lake Trail, the hiker will see quite a few of these massive, towering Ponderosa Pine Trees. Many of these massive trees survivied the Logging Creek Fire of 1999 - while the other overgrown evergreen trees were heavily burned. The Ponderosa Pines that did not survive the fire were killed because the fire was able to get into the canopy of the forest by burning up the overgrown evergreen's that surround the Ponderosa trees.
