Flathead Lake in Northwest Montana

Flathead Lake in Northwest Montana

Flathead Lake is the largest natural lake west of the Mississippi River, having a length of nearly 35 miles. The primary fishing in Flathead Lake is for lake trout due a Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks program that went haywire back in the 1970's. The town of Kalispell sits to the north of the lake, while Polson and the Mission Valley lie to the south of the lake.
