Alpine Tundra on the Beartooth Highway, Photo #1

Alpine Tundar on the Beartooth Highway, Photo #1

The alpine tundra is one of the unique characteristics of the Beartooth Highway. Few roads in the lower USA travel for more than a few miles through alpine tundra. The Beartooth Highway, by contrast, is above treeline for more than ten miles - allowing for outstanding views of the mountains.
