Montana Books for Gifts
.gif)
I currently have a pile
of books about Montana listed on this site, all broken down by
nice and handy categories (such as Glacier
National Park, Fishing
Montana, and
plenty more).
Of course, that's the problem...there is so many books about Montana,
thus leaving many with the question of "where to begin."
So, I made this page. Just a handful of books I'd suggest to people
who either like Montana (and enjoy seeing photos of it in a book), who
plan on fishing here, hiking here or just coming here and wandering about.
If you don't see a book here that hits your fancy, check out the full
Montana books section to see if something there might meet your needs
better.
All of these books are available through Amazon.
| Basically the best "coffee table" type book about Montana you'll
find. Great photos. Makes for a nice, simple and "safe gift" for
anyone who enjoys Montana. Hardcover. |
| Another great "coffee table" type book, full of photographs of
Montana. This is as much a historical book, however, than a pretty
landscape book. So keep that in mind. |
| An absolute, positively MUST HAVE book for anyone who plans on
coming to Montana and wants to drive on roads beyond the handful
of ones listed on the state travel map. This is especially so if
you plan on hunting, fishing or want to reach a trailhead somewhere.
GET THIS BOOK. Enough said.... |
| This is about the best "all around" book about Hiking in Montana.
Fine if you are looking for some good hikes found in all parts of
the state. But if you know where you want to go (such as Glacier
Park), get a dedicated hiking book for each area instead (see next
item for those who want to hike Glacier National Park). |
| The best of the books that provide coverage of the hiking in Glacier
National Park. There are some other "day hike" type books, but this
one covers the day hikes and the others ones too. It's a Falcon Guidebook
as well...which I always like. |
| One of the better...and more importantly, newere...books about
fishing in Montana you'll find. A good overall book about fishing
in Montana in general. If you know a river in particular you'll be
fishing, check out the Montana
Fishing Book section for some more
books to choose from. |
| Montana has many "hidden places" that few people even from in-state
rarely see. This book is a nice way to find at least some of them.
You also avoid the common crap found in other travel guides (best
restaurants, best hotels, stuff like that.) |
| Photographic coffee-table type book showing the "cowboy culture"
of Montana, or as the book states..."This elegant book pays tribute
to the cattleman's way of life, and ultimately, the Montana cowboy." |
| Your basic book with all those hotel/restaurant listings. Not my
type of book, but I know others like it...so here it is. Nice that
the book includes both Montana and Wyoming, admittedly...mainly because
Yellowstone Park straddles both states. |
