Glacier National Park : Books
Anyone visiting
Glacier National Park for the first time should give
some consideration to getting a book or two about
it. In particular, if you plan on fishing, be sure
to get the book Fishing
Glacier National Park, as
it can save you from accidentally fishing in fishless
lakes. Similarily, if you plan on hiking in Glacier,
I highly recommend the book Hiking
in Glacier National Park. This is a great books that lists all trails
in Glacier.

A must have book for anyone venturing out on the trails of Glacier. The
books lists all the trails with detailed information about each. The
books takes much of the "mystery" out of figuring out which hiking trails
to take/not take in Glacier.

This books is a natural history book, and goes into detail about the parks
geologic history. Great reading if you want to understand more about the
park. |

Another "must have" book if you plan on fishing in Glacier. Many lakes
in Glacier are "fish less" due to high elevations and sterile water. Other
lakes have deceptively great fishing. This books puts it all together.
Highly recommended if you plan on arriving in Glacier National Park with
a fishing rod in hand. |

There are hiking books for Glacier. And there are "climbing" books for
Glacier. This is a "climbing" book that details how to "peak bag" most
of the high mountain summits in Glacier. This book does not cover the "listed"
hiking trails in Glacier. Instead,
this book covers instead all of the non-formal hiking trails - often known
as
Goat
Trails
- that exist in Glacier. The primary purpose is tol show you how to reach
the top of most of the peaks in Glacier. Some of the routes are relatively
simple.
Other
routes are
incredibly technical. Either way, if you like to hike off trail or want
to reach the summits of many of the peaks in Glacier, this book is an ABSOLUTE
MUST. |

For someone seekiing simple day hikes in Glacier, this
is a great book. I personally like the "Hiking
in Glacier National Park" better because it
is more comprehensive, though - covering more trails.

This is a wonderful book with stunning pictures and
photographs of Montana. Danny On explored extensively
in Glacier National Park, and the photographs and well-written
text portray Glacier National Park in a beautiful and
unique way. The photographs of Glacier are photos you
will not see just anywhere - as Danny On was an active
climber in Glacier National Park - heading high up into
the mountains well away from the trail. This book makes
any excellent gift for anyone who loves Glacier National
Park and beautiful photography.

This is really a "travel guide" book. This guide
explores things to see and do in Montana's Glacier
National
Park and
the
Flathead
Valley.
Readers
will find insider information about such things as
restaurant listings, accommodations, recreation, and
relocation. Fine book for someone spending lots of
time in the cities or on the road. Not much use if
you plan on spending time in the backcountry, though!
