Mt. Wilbur dominates the hike along the Swiftcurrent
Pass Hiking Trail in Glacier National Park. This view of the mountain was taken about a
mile up the trail from the trailhead. As Mt. Wilbur has an elevation
of 9321 feet and the hiking trail is always less than 5200 feet in elevation
- the four thousand foot vertical rise of the mountain makes for a stunning
sight on a nice spring or summer day. Just so you are not confused, the
snow capped mountain is Mt. Wilbur. The tall, bare rock in front of it
is just a shoulder of the mountain that is a popular spot for intrepid
climbers.
