The Swiftcurrent
Pass Trail in Glacier National Park doesn't cross many
rivers or streams, but this is one of them. The suspension bridge shown
here is seasonal - Glacier National Park crews install the bridge as
soon as the snow melts away and take it down usually by late September
or early October. The bridge is removed due to snow - this area can get
pounded by heavy snows in the winter, which could destroy the "hikers
bridge" if left up year round. Swiftcurrent Mountain is the tall
mountain in this photograph, and forms part of the Continental Divide.
