Sorel Socks

A good quality winter sock is absolutely crucial, repeat crucial, for
keeping your feet warm during the winter if you spend lots of time outdoors.
And even more importantly, the sock you should wear should NEVER be cotton.
The reason for this is because cotton socks absorb moisture and, once
saturated, coat your foot with a nice layer of water. You may wish to
read the article The Importance
of the Winter Sock for more information.

| A Sorel Cold Mountain Sock |
There are many high quality, non-cotton, socks on the
market that work well for winter use. In particular, I've been impressed
with three different
brands of socks for winter use - Sorel socks, Smartwool
socks and, to
some extent, Thorlo socks. All three of these brands avoid the cotton
sock problem of coating your foot in water, and all socks provide great
insulation - even when wet. Yet, each of these socks are different from
each other.
Sorel has a number of different socks available, although not nearly
as many as they used to have. However, I personally prefer SmartWool
Socks...as
I find them softer, warmer and more comfortable on my own feet. Still,
you may like Sorel's better. Listed below are sorel socks for both men and women (ladies...if you like the men's style of sock better, just order a size down).
Unfortunately, as of 2010, I've been unable to locate a online suplier for Sorel Socks, not even at Amazon. Thus, it seems Sorel has discontinued their sock line for both men and women. So...go with either Smartwool Socks or Thorlos Socks.
