Osprey Packs Hornet 32 Backpack - 1831-1953cu in
|
| Internal Frame? Get a pack with an internal frame or framesheet. Doing so transfers the weight of the pack off your shoulders and onto your hips. | |
| Enough Pockets? Some daypacks have few pockets, others have a ton. Match the style of the pack to your needs. | |
| Capacity. Better to have a slightly bigger pack then needed than one that is too small. 1500-2500 cubic inches is a good size, depending on where you hike, when you do it and what you carry. You "can" get a smaller capacity IF you carry all your water on a hip belt. | |
| Enough Padding? The more padding, the better, as it makes the pack more comfortable. | |
| Say "No" to School Backpacks. These packs do not have an internal frame, a hip belt, or much of anything else to make carrying the pack over long-distances a pleasant experience. Remember...even a 15 pound pack can feel like King Kong after 10 hours spent wandering around in the mountains! |
