The Trapper Creek Fire burned through this entire area during the terrible fire season of 2003. Yet, by looking at the ground cover, you would never know it. While the bulk of the trees on the Loop Trail are all dead, much of the ground cover was remarkably thick - and alive - with bushes and many, many colorful flowers. These pink flowers, which I believe are Fireweed, were particularly abundant.
