nightforce scope i have never had or used one . back when i had my 6.5 built i sent off a 6.5-20 leupold to premier teticle to have a fine cross hair put in it with dots added in the location i wanted them to be. this takes a lot of bench time to come up where to place them. most guys just have them added where the computer says they need to be based on your bullet used and speed you are pushing it. i set my dots up with 1 above the cross hair for 200 yrds then crosshair is 300yrds and 3 more below for 4,5 and 600 yrds. if you are not sending your gunsmith a cpl dummy rounds loaded with the bullets you plan to use then you are getting a chamber cut to SAAMI spec and not a custom cut chamber . i know what you mean about finding a good used 700 to start with . i also ended up just buying a new 700. back when i did my 6.5-284 i ended up just buying a 700 mountain rifle which i found new for $ 529 with shipping . if you are getting your action blue printed then your action and bolt will all me trued up . if your 26 nosler will shoot 2 1/2" at 600 then you will be doing good for hunting.
back when my 6.5 was pretty new i shot a 200 yrd group that was .006" and many at 600 that were 1 3/8" and a 1000 yrd in the 9" range

Alright, finally finished. Was able to test it out on the game damage hunt cow elk. I Couldn't upload the photo of just the rifle that I took with my phone, I guess my phone takes pictures that are too good!

jbm, how does that 6.5-284 perform? My fil was wanting to start shooting with me and the kids and I suggested he go with this caliber. It's a great gun at least on paper. Problem is, this is a build caliber gun and he wasn't sure he wanted to build a gun for a starter hobby. Plus, later I read or heard this can romp on your shoulder and he has bad shoulders. I'm thinking of either one of the 6.5's or rebarreling my 30-06 with a slower twist for a lighter faster bullet.

Season's over for me. Now I start working on custom loads. I'm pretty satisfied with the performance. 599 yds. Can someone tell me how to reduce the size of a photo so I can post it?

I you use some one like "photo bucket" to host it,First it will be reduced there and fit here nicely
BUT there site is getting SOOO "big" with adds and moving pictures I have a hard time now with my slow internet connection.
