BHA hunt in the UK

  1. Having visited the Rockies several times to fish and hunt, i felt it was only right i should attempt to assist a good cause such as the BHA, by in effect donating my services in the UK.
I offered a hunting trip over 2 days with me, any species, any time of year, the only condition, a $250 donation to the BHA. Sadly there is no public land hunting in the UK, and to hire a guide can be very, very expensive. Luckily i am on good terms with plenty of farmers and could make this offer happen. All names went in a hat, Dave's, in the picture, was drawn out, he generously donated the cash and this week, after walking some miles we found what he was seeking, a Roe Buck, taken during the rut, congrats to Dave.

We spotted some out of season Red deer on the hunt

But after some long walks, stalks, and even running, we found a roe that was in full rutting mode with only one thing on his mind!

He had a little button antler, this is caused by a previous injury.

Do you guys hunt roe deer with velvet or wait until hard horned? Very cool deer and I'm looking forward to a European hunt someday.
