Winter Socks Checklist

Say "NO" to Cotton: There are many reasons why you never wear a winter sock during the winter (if you want to keep your feet warm). Read the Winter Sock Guide for detailed information, or just remember that cotton socks keep your feet wet...and wet feet = cold feet.
Watch The Thickness: Winter socks come in all sorts of thicknesses...the thicker the socks is, the warmer it will be. But...really thick socks (like the Smartwool Heavy Weight Trekking sock), is so thick that you might have difficulty putting tight-fitting shoes on! So, beware. Thick socks work best for boots, while medium/thin thickness socks work best for everyday shoes.
When In Doubt...Go With SmartWool: I like three brands of winter socks...Smartwool, Thorlo and Sorel. However, I think Smartwool is best...if only because they are soooooo warm and soft! More about Smartwool Socks.
Dry Feet = Warm Feet. Just reminding you of the number #1 reason to NEVER use cotton socks where you want to keep your feet warm. It simply won't happen with a cotton sock during the winter. Read How to Keep Your Feet Warm article for more information.
