UGG Boots Checklist

Need a Waterproof Boot? Some styles of UGG Boots don't handle water too well. They'll keep your feet dry BUT they'll take a long time to dry out. If you plan on spending lots of time wandering around in deep water, consider an UGG Style that is either waterproof or look at a more traditional winter boot instead.
Style or Substance? For pure yucky weather and wandering around in deep snow...you want a true snow boot, and to heck with style. Read article about the difference between a Winter Boot and Snow Boot.
Don't Forget the Cleaner! Some styles of Uggs, particularly the Classic line, can be a bit difficult to clean. You just can't toss them in your washer or dryer - unless you want to ruin them so as to donate them to goodwill. Instead, for cleaning UGG Boots, read the How to Clean UGG Boots article and then purchase a cleaner specifically designed for UGG Boots.
Keep Your Cotton Socks Buried in the Dresser. Under NO, repeat NO, circumstances do you want to wear a cotton sock with UGG Boots!! NONE. So...why not? Simple. Cotton socks absorb water. As your foot sweats in the boot - and it will since Uggs are very warm - the sock will hold and absorb all the water. The result? Your feet will be cold or clammy all day long, and probably stinky too. Moral of the story is this - don't ruin the wonderful warmth of an UGG Boot with lowly, stinky cottton socks!
But I Want To Wear A Sock! Just don't wear a cotton sock and you'll be good to go. An absolutely ideal sock for UGG Boot use are SmartWool Socks. SmartWool socks are made of shearling, too! So you get the best of both worlds...a Shearling Boot and a Shearling Sock.
If You Plan To Get Your Boots VERY Dirty...Then maybe an UGG Boot isn't for you. UGG Boots aren't Sorel Boots which are easily cleaned. If you plan on doing lots of wandering around in very dirty snow or, worse, in deep mud...consider a Sorel Boot or other style of Winter Boot instead. You'll understand why the first time you try to clean off caked-in mud and dirty snow off your Sheepskin UGG Boots!
How Tall of a Boot? Many boots, especially women's boots, can be very tall. While the height of the boot is partially about personal preference, for deeper snow conditions you'll want a fairly tall boot. For general use in the city or on your drive way, virtually any cut of boot will do.
