Big Sky Fishing has perhaps the simplest privacy policy on the web. Put quite simply, I don’t collect ANY personal data about our visitors at all, period! And I don’t want it, either!!

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Cookies are also used for advertising purposes. Unlike other websites, Big Sky Fishing.Com does NOT use personalized ads. Instead, ads served by third parties (such as Google Adsense) are “contextual” and are based on the content of the page you are viewing, not on your browsing history. Other ads on Big Sky Fishing.Com are “static ads” and are hard coded into the page itself. These static ads are not based on your browsing history.

Data Retention

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue. Note, currently Big Sky Fishing.Com doesn’t allow for comment submission.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

Rights Over Data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Note that since we don’t collect any personal data from our site visitors – there is thus no information to delete should you request it.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Pop Up Ads

Big Sky Fishing does NOT use pop-up ads on the site. If you are seeing pop-up ads while surfing the site, this is arising because your computer is infected with one or more “scumware” or, more politely, “adware” programs. These are software programs that you have installed on YOUR computer that trigger pop-up ads based on the content of thepage you are viewing. To get rid of these scumware programs, consider downloading Norton Anti-Virus (which has kept my computer virus and scumware free for over five years now, and the newest versions – since 2009 – don’t have the resource and memory issues like the old versions had).

Email Addresses

Big Sky Fishing does not collect any email addresses. Any email I receive from visitors is not sold, lost or otherwise “misplaced”. Thus, by contacting Big Sky Fishing the email address you use will NOT be placed on some sort of spam-list. Nor is your email address stored in a database.

Quite truthfully, I delete all emails within a matter of days (I don’t want emails filling up my email bin!).

Information Collected

So, what information do I collect? Nothing fancy, really. The only information I collect is non-personally identifiable information about how many people visited our site daily, using what search engines, and referred from what site. This information is gathered in a program called Google Analytics, which is the most widely used website analytical software on the web today. None of the information in this software program is personally identifiable.

In plain English, what this means is that my online statistics program can tell me how many visitors per day visited the site, what search terms they used in the Search Engines to find the site and how many pages they viewed once they did find the site. None of this information is personally identifiable in any way.

Do we disclose any information to outside parties?

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer to outside parties your personally identifiable information. This does not include trusted third parties who assist us in operating our website, conducting our business, or servicing you, so long as those parties agree to keep this information confidential. We may also release your information when we believe release is appropriate to comply with the law, enforce our site policies, or protect ours or others rights, property, or safety. However, non-personally identifiable visitor information may be provided to other parties for marketing, advertising, or other uses.

Childrens Online Privacy Protection Act Compliance

We are in compliance with the requirements of COPPA (Childrens Online Privacy Protection Act), we do not collect any information from anyone under 13 years of age. Our website, products and services are all directed to people who are at least 13 years old or older.

How Can I Have My Personal Information Removed?

Since Big Sky Fishing collects no personally identifiable information (not even email addresses), there is no process available to have personally identifiable information removed since we don’t have any!

Online Privacy Policy Only

This online privacy policy applies only to information collected through our website and not to information collected offline.

Your Consent

By using our site, you consent to our web site privacy policy.

Changes to our Privacy Policy

If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will update the Privacy Policy modification date below. This policy was last modified on 5/27/2018.
