This digital picture of the fire in the Bitterroot National Forest was taken August 6, 2000 by John McColgan, a fire behavior analyst from Fairbanks, Alaska. Because he was working at the time he took the picture, he cannot profit from it, but instead felt this once-in-a-lifetime photograph should be shared. |

I came across it from Stumble.com, a great way to stumble on to websites from a personal list of preferences. When I read it was in Montana and that he wanted to share the pic, I couldn't resist. It gives true adage to "a picture says a thousand words".
