Big Sky Fishing Gallery - Mucking Machine - Dillon, MT

A pneumatic mucking machine used underground to pick up ore using the bucket in it's down position and raise it to the dump position (picture not quite in dump position) depositing it in an awaiting ore car tied directly in back of the mucking machine(ore can not shown). The miner rides (stands) on a small platform on one side and operates the pneumatic controls.

Would love to know the history on the old Hotel in the background across the railroad tracks. Bet the walls have stories to tell. Room rate on outside facing wall show $10, 12,&15.

Bannack State Park is located in the southwestern area of Montana. Take I-15 south of Dillon to exit #59 (Highway 278 exit.) Drive west on Highway 278 for 18 miles. Turn south onto the Bannack Road and travel four miles. Park entrance road will be on the left hand side.
