Fly Assortments Provide Great Value
If...They come with the flies you actually need and think
you'll use. This is especially true since many assortments come
with a "slimmed down" fly box, too. |

Fly Assortments Are Handy. If
you only fish occasionally, or just fish periodically for a particular
species (like Bass), then a fly assortment provides an excellent
way to acquire the basic flies. |

Mixed, Dry, Nymph or Species Specific? For
trout fishing, especially if you currently do not have a large selection
of flies, it makes sense to get a "trout specific" fly assortment.
With that, you can find which flies work best for you...and then
buy those flies separately in the future. If you do not currently
own a lot of flies, it is kind of a waste of money to
buy ten fly assortments at the very beginning. |
