Foam Fly Boxes

In my own humble and admittedly biased opinion, I think foam fly boxes
are the easiest way to store flies you frequently use when out on the
water. The foam prevents the hooks from being damaged, and if the foam
is ripped, it makes securing the fly to the foam insert a snap.
Additionally, unlike compartment fly boxes, there is no need to worry
about the fly developing mold due to being in a confined compartment.
Foam fly boxes come in a dizzying array of sizes, colors and styles.
Some have foam on top with compartments on the bottom, others have rippled
foam on top with straight foam on the bottm, etc..The variations are
actually endless.
In the end, there is no "one right" foam fly box. Just choose one that
seems like it will work for you - although one that floats
(most foam fly boxes float, or at least don't sink like a rock) is handy
to have. For more information on ideas how to organize your flies, read the fly
box guide.
