This particular photographs of Lake
McDonald was taken about halfway down the Going to the Sun Road,
which closely follows the lakes entire southern shoreline. Scenes like
this are quite common on Lake McDonald - low level clouds form during
the evening as the air cools. The clouds, unable to "drift away" due
to the generally calm conditions found in the morning hours and because
the mountains themselves act as a "cloud block", tend to
hang around for a while until the sun can evaporate them away.
