Lake McDonald is seen in this photograph, with Apgar Mountain rising in the distance. Lake McDonald is the largest lake in Glacier National Park, with a length of over 10 miles and a width greater than 1 mile. The 2003 Robert Fire burned over Apgar Mountain and then down the entire 10 mile length of the lake (on the northern shore). This picture was taken before the fire along the Going to the Sun Road on the south side of Lake McDonald.
