This picture
shows the view to the south from the summit of Big Mountain.
It was taken on the ski run called Inspiration, which is aptly
named as it provides wonderful views of the Flathead Valley (shown
here buried under the clouds) far below.
These two
skiiers in the picture are contemplating going down Schmidts
Chute. This chute looks steep in this picture - and it is.
However, once you are on this and some of the other "chute" runs
that
take off from Inspiration, you realize it isn't quite
as steep as it looks. Just a matter of working up the nerve to
get over
the "lip" that forms the boundary between Inspiration and the
Chute Trails below. That said, however, if you are a beginner or
low level intermediate skiier - don't even think of going down
these chutes. You'll have a very nasty trip. |
