Deer, like most everyplace else in the US, are located everywhere in
Montana. Huge herds of deer (both whitetail deer and mule deer) graze
the plains in Montana - much to the dismay of the ranchers and farmers
in the area (the deer have a tendency to eat their crops and their hay).
It is not all uncommon to see herds of more than 1000 deer roaming the
plains during the evening and the morning hours here in Montana.
